Lifting Together

The future is electric. This puts increased demands on our shared energy grid. With Big Battery, electric vehicle (EV) owners support and future-proof the grid.

When you have created a charge plan in the True Energy app, your car becomes part of a sustainable charging network, which helps balance the energy grid – just by being available.

What Is Big Battery?

Big Battery balances the energy grid by momentarily pausing EV charging for brief periods if the energy grid comes under too great pressure.

Charging restarts automatically when the energy grid is ready – and your EV is always ready and charged according to your wishes.

Balancing the Future

If we all cook, charge EVs and use household appliances at the same time, we may need more electricity than windmills can produce and the electricity grid can transport.

With Big Battery, we momentarily pause electric vehicle charging when demand outpaces production so that the energy grid does not collapse.

EV charging automatically restarts when the grid is ready again. By adapting EV charging to the available capacity, we help balance the grid.

Grid balance means that we avoid the need for expensive expansions of grid infrastructure and save significant amounts of CO2 from fossil-fueled power plants.

That is why Big Battery is the future.

What Is Cable DiscountTM?

When you participate in Big Battery, you become eligible for Cable Discount™.

Cable Discount™ is a rebate on your electricity bill calculated based on how much your EV has participated in Big Battery. If you are a utility customer with one of our many partners, the rebate is deducted directly from your energy bill.

Your electric vehicle must be set to Smart Charge to participate in Big Battery and be eligible to earn Cable Discount™.

Example Of Cable DiscountTM

Example of Cable Discount ™

What you earn

Below is an example of how much Cable Rebate™ you can earn:

  • Your EV uses 17 kWh of electricity a day
  • The vehicle participates for a minimum of four hours every other night
  • True Energy receives payment for kWh on the grid balance market
  • In this example, you, as an EV owner, will receive the equivalent of 400 Danish Kroner a year

Please note that the energy price varies. True Energy cannot guarantee that the example matches your situation.

Cable Discount™ Payment

You can continually follow how much Cable Rebate™ you have earned through True Energy’s app.

To be eligible to receive Cable Rebate™, you must be a utility customer with one of our partners. The rebate you earn is deducted from your energy bill, which is often calculated in the middle of the month in connection with invoicing. When the rebate has been transferred to your energy bill, it is reset in the app. You can see how much Cable Rebate™ you have earned in total in the app.

If you have earned Cable Rebate™ but are not a utility customer with one of our partners, the Cable Rebate™  is reset at the end of the month.
